Overview

Scan analytics help you understand how your QR Codes are being used.

By reviewing scan activity, you can measure engagement, evaluate campaigns and make better business decisions.

Available analytics

Depending on your subscription and QR Code type, Sqanna may provide information such as:

  • Total scans
  • Unique scans
  • Scan history
  • Device type
  • Operating system
  • Browser
  • Approximate location

Available metrics may evolve as new features are introduced.

Total scans

Total scans count every successful scan of a QR Code.

If the same person scans the QR Code five times, all five scans are counted.

Unique scans

Unique scans estimate the number of individual visitors.

Because privacy is important, unique visitors are estimated using available technical information rather than personally identifying users.

As a result, unique scan numbers should be considered estimates rather than exact counts.

Why don't analytics match other platforms?

It's common for analytics to differ slightly between services.

Possible reasons include:

  • Browser privacy features
  • Ad blockers
  • VPNs
  • Cached redirects
  • Visitors leaving before the destination loads

Small differences are completely normal.

Using analytics effectively

Look for long-term trends rather than individual scans.

Questions analytics can help answer include:

  • Which campaigns perform best?
  • Which locations receive the most scans?
  • Which devices are most common?
  • When do customers engage most?

Best practices

  • Compare trends over weeks or months.
  • Use analytics alongside your website analytics.
  • Test QR Codes after making major destination changes.
