Overview

One of the biggest advantages of a Smart QR Code is that it can be updated after it has been printed.

Instead of replacing posters, packaging or marketing materials, simply update the destination from your Sqanna dashboard.

Every existing copy of your QR Code continues working.

Updating a destination

  1. Sign in to your Sqanna dashboard.
  2. Open the QR Code you want to update.
  3. Select Edit Destination.
  4. Enter the new destination.
  5. Save your changes.

New visitors will automatically be redirected to the updated destination.

What can be updated?

Depending on the QR Code type, you may be able to update:

  • Website URL
  • Landing page
  • Mobile app destination
  • PDF
  • Campaign page

The QR Code itself never changes.

Do I need to print a new QR Code?

No.

As long as you continue using the same Smart QR Code, previously printed copies remain valid.

When do changes take effect?

Destination updates are typically available almost immediately.

However, due to browser caching or internet infrastructure, some users may briefly continue seeing the previous destination.

This usually resolves automatically without any action.

Common uses

Businesses frequently update Smart QR Codes when:

  • Changing websites
  • Launching new campaigns
  • Replacing menus
  • Updating documents
  • Changing app download links

Best practices

  • Test the updated destination after saving.
  • Avoid deleting destinations that are still in use.
  • Give QR Codes descriptive names so they're easy to identify later.
