About Sqanna
One QR code. Endless possibilities.
One QR code. Endless possibilities.
Sqanna was created from a simple observation:
QR codes are usually treated as disposable.
Once they're printed, they're considered permanent, even though the information behind them rarely stays the same.
Businesses change websites. Apps get replaced. Menus are updated. Campaigns end. Companies rebrand.
Yet the QR code stays exactly the same. Which often means someone eventually has to replace it.
It started with a simple problem
The idea for Sqanna first came to me while working at a large technology company.
The company changed its name, which meant every printed URL across brochures, roll-ups, and marketing material suddenly became outdated.
The only solution was to order new printed material, even though nothing had changed except the web address.
Why are we still printing information that we know will eventually change?
Then I saw it happen again
Years later, while working with a client, I encountered the exact same problem on a much larger scale.
The client had deployed hundreds of QR codes across Sweden on bicycle and electric scooter parking locations.
Originally, every QR code directed users to their mobile app. When the app changed, every physical QR code had to be replaced.
Now they're preparing for another replacement because they want the QR codes to behave more intelligently, sending users directly into the app if it's installed, or to the App Store or Google Play if it isn't.
The cost of printing new stickers is relatively small.
The real cost is sending people across the country to find, remove, and replace hundreds of perfectly good QR codes.
The QR codes weren't the problem. They simply couldn't adapt.
That's why Sqanna exists
Sqanna was built around one simple idea:
Print once. Update forever.
Instead of replacing QR codes whenever something changes, you simply update the destination online in seconds.
The printed QR code never changes.
Whether you're updating a website, launching a new campaign, or switching mobile apps, your customers always end up in the right place.
More than editable QR codes
As Sqanna evolved, it became clear that changing a destination wasn't enough.
Businesses often need QR codes that can make decisions automatically.
A restaurant might show the breakfast menu in the morning and the dinner menu in the evening.
A QR code can automatically send iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play.
Future campaigns can start and end automatically without anyone remembering to update the QR code.
That's why we think of Sqanna as Smart QR Codes rather than simply editable QR codes.
QR codes that adapt to your business instead of forcing your business to adapt to them.
Built by a developer who uses it
Hi! I'm Joakim, an independent software developer from Sweden with more than ten years of experience building software for businesses of all sizes.
Throughout my career I've worked closely with organisations that depend on reliable, practical software, from large technology companies to small businesses solving everyday challenges.
Sqanna is built the same way I believe software should be built:
- Simple to understand
- Fast to use
- Reliable enough to trust
- Flexible enough to grow with your business
Every feature exists because it solves a real problem, not because it looks impressive on a pricing page.
Our mission
We believe businesses should never have to replace a perfectly good QR code simply because the destination changed.
Our goal is to make QR codes something you print once and improve forever.
Because changing a destination should take seconds, not another trip across the country.
If you've ever found yourself replacing a QR code that still looked perfectly fine, you're exactly why Sqanna exists.
