Overview

A Smart QR Code is a QR Code whose destination can be changed after it has been created.

Instead of storing your website directly inside the QR Code, the QR Code points to Sqanna, which securely redirects visitors to your chosen destination.

This extra redirect allows you to update the destination whenever you need.

Why use Smart QR Codes?

Traditional QR Codes become useless if:

  • Your website changes
  • A campaign ends
  • Your mobile app changes
  • A document moves
  • A product page is removed

Normally you would need to print an entirely new QR Code.

With Smart QR Codes, you simply update the destination from your dashboard.

The printed QR Code stays exactly the same.

Common use cases

Smart QR Codes are commonly used for:

  • Restaurant menus
  • Product packaging
  • Flyers
  • Business cards
  • Posters
  • Event signage
  • App downloads
  • Marketing campaigns

How it works

When someone scans your QR Code:

  1. Their device opens the Smart QR Code.
  2. Sqanna checks the current destination.
  3. The visitor is redirected to the correct page.

This process typically happens almost instantly.

Advantages

  • Update destinations anytime
  • Track scan analytics
  • Schedule future destination changes
  • Device-aware redirects for supported QR types
  • No need to reprint existing materials
